Paktli makes organic snacks inspired by the Mexican alegrĂa, a treat with roots in the amaranth that Maya, Aztec and Inca cultures held sacred for thousands of years. Its Alegria Bites are light, crumbly, airy puffs of millet, amaranth and quinoa coated in chocolate: white, milk, dark with wild blueberries and cacao nibs, or extra dark with cranberries and cashews. They are naturally gluten-free and preservative-free, with vegan and soy-free options. The company was started in Cincinnati by Seena Chriti, a food and culture producer with years in television, newspapers and magazines. The holiday gift box pairs a dozen alegrĂas with a handmade textile woven on a pedal loom by women artisans in Oaxaca.
